How to Register for a Medical Cannabis Card

The Lynn and Erin Compassionate Use Act legalized cannabis use for individuals with one (or more) of the current 21 qualifying conditions. However, to legally purchase THC products, you must be registered with the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) Medical Cannabis Program (MCP).
The process can be confusing, so the knowledgeable staff at Sacred Garden is available to help you complete your registration.

Overview of the Registration Process

Registering for a medical cannabis card requires more than completing paperwork. For your application to be reviewed, you must:
Be Certified by a Physician. A doctor must certify (or decertify) a medical condition for program eligibility. To date, the 21 eligible conditions are:

(See NMDOH: Medical Cannabis Program for a comprehensive list of medical professionals who may certify you for medical use cannabis.)

Complete your Application

Once you have the proper documentation from your certifying physician, you must complete your registration application, which can be accessed HERE.
It may take New Mexico Department of Health up to 30 days to approve an initial application and send a registration ID card. However, the DOH is working on a system to reduce application approval to five days.

Doctor Evaluation and Consultation

While hundreds of people each week are willing to cast aside outdated stigmas associated with cannabis to find natural healing remedies, the whole process (and product line) can be overwhelming. Sacred Garden works with certifying doctors to help you complete your MCP registration and a staff doctor is available for consultations to ensure you get the right cannabis products for your needs.

Sacred Garden makes it easy for you to schedule an evaluation with a certifying doctor. Albuquerque Integrative Medicine (AIM) offers appointments at our Santa Fe dispensary, so you may simply click here to schedule. For prospective patients in Albuquerque, you may call AIM 505-503-8962 to schedule an evaluation.

Please note: Once you receive your MCP registration card, you need to register yourself as a patient with Sacred Garden before you can purchase our products.
